WATER CHESTNUT

An attractive,tender, floating plant that spreads rapidly during  Summer and the first half of Autumn. Provides shade, shelter and somewhere for young fish to hide, small white flowers. There is no need to plant it just place it on the water surface. Requires a sunny postition, tolerant of a little shade. Spiny fruits, the nuts, may be painful if stood on as they have two fierce spines each. They drop to the bottom to commence growing.
